New Year, New You?

Now that the presents are opened and all the hoopla of Christmas 2016 is finally done and dusted, most people are thinking and preparing for their New Year's Resolutions. I've honestly never been one to make a New Year's Resolution, especially one that I know I can't follow through with. I don't like to fail at challenges, so if I'm going to participate, you better believe it's going to be something I know I'm going to succeed at it. So many people set themselves up for failure, setting high and unattainable goals just because of peer pressure. Besides, why is there always so much pressure to change things about ourselves? Why don't we ever focus on all the things that we are doing right? So many questions I know, but seriously, sometimes can't we just talk about the good things that we have done in the past year instead of focusing on all the things that we want to change.

I am a firm believer in trying to better ourselves and adapt and grow everyday, and not just the first of the year. There is no need to wait til a new year starts. Heck, I changed my Instagram Bio nearly everyday for a few days straight because I am never satisfied, I am always adapting, always trying to better myself...changing daily but always with the same goal in mind: to be the best me I can be. If you want to achieve a goal, just do it...do it today...so what if it is December 28th. The important thing to remember though is that if you say you're going to change something about yourself, you have to really want to do it to make it work and to be successful at it. If you are saying you are going to get healthy and lose weight for instance, you have to really want to commit, and you have to be open to hitting bumps and hurdles along the way, because it's never as easy as you think. If your heart really truly wants to succeed, you can and will....the willpower that you are capable of is unbelievable.

My latest Hashtag I've been using on my selfies is #JustJen , at first it started as a joke, but now it actually has more meaning and is totally relevant to this post. JustJen is me, just me being the best me I can be, sharing myself with you, with all of you.. I am starting my blog today, December 28, 2016 because I am ready, I am ready for the newest version of Jen to emerge and to grow into my full potential, whatever that may be. I don't need to wait until January 1, 2017 to introduce myself, my blog, and my new commitment to you. I am evolving daily, and today I evolved into a new blogger, adapting my posts from my Instagram page @pretty.city into something more.
